Our Story
We’re industry leaders in out-of-school care. For over 15 years, we’ve been operating in the heart of the Kāpiti community.
Born out of the need for accessible childcare on the Kāpiti Coast, Fun Zone supports Kiwi families and local schools with before and school care and activities, holiday programmes and teacher only days.
We started from humble roots.
Fun Zone was born out of a need for accessible childcare. Our vision is to see all New Zealand schools have an onsite, out of school care programme, providing support for hard-working parents across Aotearoa.
Founders Rangi and Motu started KidzOwn in 2007, when they became frustrated with the lack of out of school care options for their young daughter. KidzOwn was the first out of school care programme in their area to operate out of a local school. This provided the foundation for what has become the Fun Zone Group.
Having both grown up in big families, being in a lively (and sometimes chaotic) environment is second nature to Rangi and Motu! Self confessed “big kids at heart”, the couple see the Fun Zone community as an extension of their own family.
We’ve created a safe space for
your kids to learn, grow and have fun.
Your tamariki are precious to you, so they’re precious to us too. We've created a safe haven for kids to explore, try new things and step out of their comfort zone. Our crew are police vetted and are well trained to treat kids with love, care, and respect.
We’re all about learning through play. Our rules are simple and our expectations are clear, which allows kids to concentrate on what they do best; having fun and exploring the world around them.
We do right by our community.
We reckon all Kiwi families should have access to quality childcare, whenever they might need it. OSCAR subsidies are available through Work & Income New Zealand at all our programmes.
From providing sports sponsorships to local children to volunteering at school galas, our team is driven by our strong values and commitment for working in and for the community.
We aren’t some faceless franchise.
Our families describe us as warm, down-to-earth people who actually care about your kids’ well-being. The Fun Zone team isn’t afraid to muck in with some art and crafts, throw themselves into outdoor games, or lend a hand with maths homework.
We’ve been around for a pretty long time - 15 years, in fact! As the longest-serving O.S.C.A.R provider on the Kāpiti Coast, you can count on us for quality, professional child care.
